UK tests Raytheon's high-powered laser weapon, successfully destroying targets over a kilometre away from an army vehicle.
The UK has successfully test-fired a laser beam from an army vehicle, destroying targets at the speed of light from over a kilometre away. The high-powered laser weapon, developed by Raytheon, could be mounted on various armoured vehicles and be used to defeat drones. If approved for use, it would offer a more affordable alternative to missiles and bullets. The trials were carried out at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) range in Porton Down, Wiltshire.
