Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has promised on social media that he will never charge for downloadable content (DLC) or updates for the game, asserting that he "will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live." Barone, who has released multiple free updates since the game's launch in 2016, is currently working on the mobile port of Stardew Valley and console ports for version 1.6.
