Spokane City Council approved Proposition 1, a sales and use tax increase of 0.1% for enhanced community safety purposes, including Spokane Fire Department, Police Department, Municipal Court, and the Office of the Police Ombudsman. The resolution passed 5-2, placing the proposition on the November ballot. If approved, revenue from the tax will be used to fund critical investments in public safety.
