Slovakia received the first two of 14 new F-16 military jets from the US on July 11, after a two-year delay due to the coronavirus pandemic and chip shortages. The jets, which will significantly boost Slovakia's defense capabilities, are part of a $1.8 billion deal signed in 2018 to purchase 14 US-made F-16 Block 70/72 fighter jets. The remaining 12 jets will be gradually delivered over the next two years.
