Pakistan army accuses an "illegal political mafia" of sabotaging its counter-terrorism operation, "Azm-i-Istehkam," aiming to eliminate terrorism in the country. Army spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif warns of a "very strong lobby" with vested interests trying to undermine the operation. The Pakistan Army says the operation differs from past military operations, aimed at strengthening the existing National Action Plan (NAP).
