Japanese supplement manufacturer Kobayashi Pharmaceutical's president and chairman have resigned over a health scare linked to its red yeast rice dietary supplements, which have been linked to the deaths of 80 individuals and damaging organs, including kidneys. The company is under investigation, and its board released an external report stating that it failed to prioritize consumer safety and acted with an "insufficient sense of urgency."
