Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, marshalled MP for Sefwi Wiawso, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, out of the House following a disagreement over procedural authority during discussions on Supreme Court appointments on July 22, 2024. Afriyie questioned the Speaker's decision to allow preliminary remarks before the Appointments Committee concerning the referral of certain nominees to the Supreme Court. The Speaker found the remarks disrespectful and instructed MP Afriyie to leave the chamber.
