Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a financial support package of Rs 11,500 crore for flood mitigation and irrigation projects across several states. The funds will be provided through the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Program and other sources, supporting projects such as the Kosi-Mechi intra-state link, 20 ongoing schemes, and investigations into Kosi-related flood mitigation and irrigation. Bihar, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will receive assistance for flood management and related projects, while Sikkim will also receive government support for flood recovery.
