Dutch PM Schoof announced that Wopke Hoekstra, former climate commissioner and current European Commissioner for the Netherlands, may return to the European Commission. The Netherlands hopes Hoekstra secures a financial or economic portfolio, despite his party, the Christian Democrats, not being in the governing coalition. Hoekstra previously held the Netherlands' Minister of Finance position.
