12-year-old Sonny Flemming was left covered in bed bug bites after falling ill with vomiting and diarrhoea during a family holiday at the five-star Riu Funana Hotel in Cape Verde. His mother, Natalie Hind, and partner, Nathan Smyth, also fell sick during the trip, describing it as the worst experience of their lives. Sonny was given an EpiPen and antihistamines due to the severity of his reaction to the bites.
