Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy Meredith Portillo, 20, was killed along with two others in a wrong-way accident near IH-37 and Southton Rd. Portillo was off-duty and had two other occupants in her 2024 Ford Mustang when it was hit by a wrong-way driver. The passenger and wrong-way driver also died in the accident, while the third passenger sustained serious injuries. Portillo joined the force in September 2023.
