41-year-old ex-footballer Joey Barton faces malicious communication charges for messages sent between January 1-18, allegedly related to tweets about pundit Eni Aluko. Cheshire Police will present the case at Warrington Magistrates' Court on July 30. Barton, who has played for teams such as Manchester City, Burnley, and Rangers, could face up to two years imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine if convicted.
