Virginia to commemorate historic Green Book-era hotel, Carver Inn, with state historic marker.

Virginia will honor the site of a historic Green Book-era hotel, where Louis Armstrong and Thurgood Marshall once stayed, with a state historic marker. The Carver Inn, which once stood on Charlottesville's Preston Avenue, will have a plaque approved by the Virginia Board of Historic Resources to remember its significance. The marker's initiator, Edwina St. Rose, said she hopes it will bring memories and emphasize the importance of the Carver Inn during the Jim Crow era.
