Tasmanian dairy producer Ashgrove has become the first to introduce branded milk produced by cows fed with seaweed extract, which reduces methane emissions, a significant greenhouse gas emitted by the global livestock industry. The milk, branded as Eco-Milk, is sold at a premium price in Tasmania, with sales reportedly going well. The feed additive used by the dairy is supplied by Tasmanian company Sea Forest.
