Gai Waterhouse criticized a NSW government plan to develop historic Rosehill racecourse for housing.
Champion trainer Gai Waterhouse criticised a NSW government-backed plan to develop Sydney's historic Rosehill racecourse for housing, calling it an attempt to "hijack" the iconic racing venue. A state parliamentary inquiry is examining the proposal after the government signed a memorandum of understanding with racecourse owner the Australian Turf Club to build over 25,000 homes on the site. The turf club plans to use proceeds from the sale to invest in other racing, training and stabling venues in Sydney.
