Former Cabinet minister and shadow work and pensions secretary Mel Stride is considering a bid for the Conservative Party leadership, following Rishi Sunak's departure. Stride, a close ally of Sunak, has received encouragement from colleagues to make a bid and stated there is a "reasonable chance" he will run. He emphasized the importance of a strong Conservative Party for the country.
