Cessnock City Council allocates a $79.2m road and capital works budget for 2023/24 in response to population growth.
Cessnock City Council has exceeded its record annual investment in roads and capital works with a $79.2m budget for the 2023/24 financial year. The region, one of the fastest-growing local government areas outside of Sydney, is predicted to see a 67% increase in population to 112,000 by 2041. Mayor Jay Suvaal said the council aims to improve infrastructure and address issues like road congestion before they escalate.
