Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Governor-General Sam Mostyn will not be present, and even politicians from the 2032 host city Brisbane will miss the event. In contrast, in Sydney 2000, hosting the Games made it politically acceptable for then-Prime Minister John Howard and his wife to be superfans.
