Australian Navy's HMAS Sydney tested a new anti-ship missile during RIMPAC, replacing the Harpoon system.

Australian Navy's HMAS Sydney successfully test-fired a new anti-ship missile during the RIMPAC training exercise in Hawaii, replacing the ageing Harpoon weapon system. The new naval strike missile, part of a $1bn package, demonstrated a greater range and increased difficulty to intercept. Vice Admiral Mark Hammond described the test as a significant increase in the lethality of the surface fleet.
