Australia will phase out halogen lighting and set new standards for digital signage displays under stricter national standards. This move, agreed with industry, could save $8 billion annually and avoid 8 million tonnes of emissions. Swapping 10 halogen lamps with LED ones could benefit Australian families up to $229 a year, according to Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Jenny McAllister.
