1-year-old child and mother drown in Wilson Creek, Caldwell County, Saturday night. Emergency crews were called to the Wilson Creek Gorge at 6:30 p.m., where NC Wildlife Resource Commission Law Enforcement units found three people in the water. Two unconscious victims, a mother and child, were rescued but later pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation.
