The Illawarra offshore wind zone's public consultation process, which generated 14,200 submissions, will be scrutinized by a Senate inquiry. While the government and Member for Cunningham, Alison Byrnes, argue the high volume of engagement indicates an informed community, 65% of submissions opposed the wind zone proposal. Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen announced the wind zone in June.
