The Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Nigeria, has appointed Prof. Carol Umobi as the new Acting Vice Chancellor, replacing Prof. Joe Ikechebelu who was removed from the position. This appointment makes Umobi the first female to hold the position in the university's history. Ikechebelu had taken over from the previous Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, two months prior to his removal.
