On July 20th, Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) fought a rail car fire at Union Pacific rail yard in West Eugene, involving a smoking boxcar on a train from Oakridge. Firefighters faced challenges due to highly piled shipping contents, needing to manually remove debris. The ESF Fire Marshal's office is investigating, containment was limited to the train car of origin, and no injuries were reported.
