The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Janata Dal (United) has requested party leader Nitish Kumar to reconsider the alliance with the BJP at the national level. The BJP's actions in Jammu and Kashmir have forced the JD(U) to consider leaving the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and hinder their efforts to bring Islamic scholars back to the mainstream for nation-building, as stated by JD(U) state general secretary Vivek Bali.
