A grass fire occurred near Ford Mountain Correctional Centre on Chilliwack Lake Road in Chilliwack River Valley on July 20, prompting emergency fire crews to be dispatched at around 2:25 p.m. The blaze was situated on the south side of the road, a few hundred meters east of the prison. The Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department requested additional firefighters due to the size of the fire or potential hazards.
