15,000 gallons of sewage spilled into Ballona Creek, forcing the closure of nearby beaches, including Dockweiler State Beach and Venice Beach, for at least 48 hours. The closure extends one mile north and south of Ballona Creek. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health requires two consecutive water quality tests to meet health standards before the beaches can reopen. Testing will begin on Monday.
