18 July: North Lake Tahoe's Carnelian Bay sewage leak closed Carnelian West Beach and a part of Highway 28 after a contractor hit the main sewer export pipeline.

A sewage leak in North Lake Tahoe's Carnelian Bay occurred on July 18th when a contractor hit the main sewer export pipeline, causing nearby Carnelian West Beach and a part of Highway 28 to be closed. Sewage from the pipeline overflowed into a parking lot and reached the lake. The North Tahoe Public Utility District repaired the pipeline, but Carnelian West Beach remains closed pending further notice.
