Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud has urged advocates to abandon paternalistic attitudes towards junior lawyers, arguing that paying them low amounts contributes to 'gatekeeping' of the profession. He made these remarks at the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. Chandrachud also praised the bench's contributions in serving as a data and software backup for the Delhi High Court.
