British Columbia government introduces measures to limit chronic wasting disease spread in deer, moose, and caribou, including relocation, mandatory testing, and carcass restrictions.

British Columbia government imposes new measures to limit chronic wasting disease (CWD) spread in deer, moose, and caribou populations. Urban deer relocation from Cranbrook and Kimberley, mandatory testing for the disease in specific zones of Kootenay region, and banning transporting deer carcass brain tissue or spinal column outside the region are introduced. Although no direct human transmission is known, Health Canada advises against consuming meat or parts of infected animals.
