Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan is organising COP, a main event on a global scale, for the first time in the former Soviet Union and the region. This is an opportunity for Azerbaijan to "step into a higher league". Azerbaijan is actively working with developing countries to build bridges between the Global South and the Global North, thanks to its four-year chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement.
