31-year-old Tyrone McLaughlin from Derry was sentenced to six months in jail at Magistrate's Court for domestic abuse offenses including non-fatal strangulation, assault causing bodily harm, and assault on a female in August 2023. The court heard that he punched his partner during a disagreement, causing her to lose consciousness, and later placed her in a chokehold. The woman suffered visible pain and swelling, and McLaughlin was ordered to pay her £500 in compensation.
