Washington State's North Cascades Highway (SR 20) has been closed due to the rapid expansion of the Easy Fire, ignited by dry lightning storms on July 17th. The highway is closed between Granite Creek at milepost 148 and a point just east of the Rainy Pass Trail Head at milepost 158 for safety reasons. The fire has grown to 300 acres and is not far from the Pioneer Fire along Lake Chelan, which has consumed over 25,000 acres. No reopening time has been announced.
