University of Birmingham researchers detected early signs of Solar Cycle 26 using helioseismology.

Researchers from the University of Birmingham detected early signs of Solar Cycle 26 while the Sun is still in Cycle 25, using helioseismology to observe internal sound waves and bands of rotation within the Sun. These findings, revealed in the Royal Astronomical Society's National Astronomy Meeting, provide insights into the Sun's plasma and magnetic fields. Cycle 26 is expected to officially start around 2030.
