UK's Vedanta Resources settles $245.75m dues to regain control of Zambia's Konkola Copper Mines (KCM).
UK-based Vedanta Resources, parent of India's Vedanta, has settled $245.75m dues to regain control of Zambia's Konkola Copper Mines (KCM). The company previously lost control in 2019 due to a legal battle, as former Zambian President Edgar Lungu accused it of failing to invest in expanding copper production. Vedanta must now raise an additional $1bn to revive KCM's mining operations and advance the Konkola deep mining project.
