Thousands of asylum seekers in South Africa live in constant fear of arrest and deportation due to their inability to access or apply for asylum documents. Despite numerous attempts since 2020, applicants have struggled to obtain legal status. Lawyers for Human Rights, representing the Scalabrini Centre, will take the issue to South Africa's Constitutional Court in an attempt to prevent further arrests.
