The invasive and potentially destructive spotted lanternfly has been detected in the grape-growing region of the Finger Lakes, New York. State Department of Agriculture and Markets inspectors confirmed the presence in Romulus, Seneca County, following reports received from Cornell University's Integrated Pest Management Program. The lanternfly, native to Asia, could significantly impact New York's wine and grape industry, worth around $300 million annually, if uncontrolled.
