Long Beach breaks ground on a $1.5 billion railyard expansion at the port to fortify the US supply chain. Dubbed "America's Green Gateway," the project will expand the existing railyard and connect the port to 30 major rail hubs nationwide, aiming to streamline rail operations and reduce environmental impact, traffic congestion, and air pollution caused by cargo trucks. The project is set to more than triple the dock's rail cargo capacity.
