In June, Japan's inflation rate increased to 2.6% YoY, according to data released by the internal affairs ministry. This is an increase from the 2.5% inflation rate seen in May. However, the core Consumer Price Index (CPI), which excludes volatile food prices, showed a softer increase at 2.7% instead of the expected 2.7%. The increase was mainly due to rising energy prices, despite a slowdown in electricity and gasoline bill increases.
