Indian Supreme Court to hear petitions for SIT probe into electoral bond scams on July 22.
The Indian Supreme Court will hear multiple petitions on July 22, demanding a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into alleged scams involving electoral bonds financing. The petitions claim that the electoral bond data revealed a significant portion of the bonds were given as "quid pro quo" arrangements by corporations to political parties for fiscal gains or to avoid actions by central agencies. The NGOs argue that existing regulatory bodies are insufficient for a fair investigation and request the formation of an SIT under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge. The hearing will take place on July 22.
