First Solar, a thin-film solar maker, is investigating potential violations of patents it owns for Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) solar cell technology. Acquired through TetraSun in 2013, First Solar has issued patents in the US and other countries, with validities extending to 2030. The company has initiated an investigation of several c-Si solar manufacturers for potential infringement.
