2025 elderly care cap delay requested by town halls due to funding and staff concerns.

Town halls warn that the introduction of an £86,000 lifetime cap on elderly care costs, announced by Boris Johnson in 2021 to protect pensioners from having to sell their homes to pay for care, will be "impossible" to implement as planned due to concerns over funding and staff shortages. The cap, originally set to be introduced in 2023, was pushed back to October 2025. Now, local authorities are calling for another delay of at least another year.
