Edo's Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has declared himself an unofficial member of Nigeria's All Progressives Congress (APC) despite remaining a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Shaibu has expressed support for the APC's governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, and stated that his spirit has left the PDP. Shaibu, who was reinstated as deputy governor after being impeached, has not officially defected from the PDP.
