Australian research finds G-quadruplex DNA (G4-DNA) involved in memory transcription in neurons.

Australian research reveals a specific type of DNA structure, G-quadruplex DNA (G4-DNA), plays a role in transcribing memories. G4-DNA, usually linked to DNA damage and observed in cancer cells, has been found to accumulate in neurons in the brain, required for memory activation and silencing. This is the first evidence of its role in memory formation in an "in vivo" study, done on living cells or organisms.
