Alberta government introduces two new sheriff surveillance teams to reduce rural crime. The two eight-member teams, one for southern Alberta and the other for northern Alberta, are now fully operational and ready to assist local police in combating rural crime, such as property break-ins and fuel thefts to farmers. The teams, led by the Alberta Sheriffs, are planned to cost $2.1 million per year.
