A hydroplane racer from Quebec, François Leroux, has died following a weekend crash at a regatta in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, southwest of Montreal. The 56-year-old was taken to hospital unconscious and in critical condition after the accident during the Hydro 350 class consolation final. The rest of the day's racing was cancelled, and event organizers expressed their condolences to Leroux's family and the nautical and medical teams that responded.
