32-year-old Matthew J. Ryan from Lenexa, Kansas has been sentenced to 9 years and 9 months in prison for a fatal wrong-way crash on Interstate 435 in Overland Park in December 2022. Ryan was found guilty of reckless second-degree murder by a jury in May. Driving in the wrong direction, he hit a vehicle, causing a head-on collision with another eastbound vehicle that killed 42-year-old Karl Wurtenberger from Independence, Missouri.
