Thailand's govt to meet with commercial banks & state agencies to investigate transactions linked to Myanmar's junta for weapons purchases. The move follows a UN report revealing a surge in funds moved via Thai lenders from $60M in 2022 to $120M in 2023 for Myanmar's military procurement. Bank representatives stated they followed regulations but lacked capacity to investigate all potentially related transactions.
