Spain's Socialist PM Pedro Sanchez proposed tighter media regulations to combat fake news, drawing criticism from the conservative opposition as an attempt at censorship. The measures align Spain with the European Media Freedom Act and require media to reveal shareholders influencing editorial policy, publicly funded advertising revenues, and audience data. Sanchez also announced a €100m ($109m) subsidy to aid traditional media in transitioning to digital platforms.
