China-Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) relations have entered a new era, marked by equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness, and benefits for the people, according to a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson. Over the past decade, China has become LAC's second-largest trading partner and the largest trading partner for Brazil, Chile, and Peru. The relationship has seen progress in trade, infrastructure, climate governance, poverty reduction, and cultural exchanges, with 22 LAC countries joining the Belt and Road Initiative through various cooperation memoranda.
